Hard-pressed hospital staff have been hailed as ‘heroes’ by Derriford chiefs for their efforts during a ‘very difficult’ period of staff shortages and sickness.

Last year, more than 900 prospective students applied to the University of Connecticut School of Nursing. The school was able to accept 88.
