More than 300 extra nursing staff are to be recruited at hospitals in Leicester.University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust said it planed to recruit around 200 nurses, 150 HCAs and 20 midwives for its sites at Glenfield, Leicester General and Leicester Royal Infirmary.    The trust said it will guarantee jobs to nursing students from the city’s De Montfort University – based on interview – as well as advertising nationally.Carole Ribbins, the trust’s deputy director of nursing, said: ‘Surveys show people are happy with the care they receive in our hospitals, but there is always more we can do and we are always looking to improve.  These extra staff will help us do that.

‘It is also important that we are supporting the hard work of those wanting to enter the nursing profession by making sure there are jobs available for them to apply for at the end of their studies,’ she said.
The trust currently employs around 3,000 nurses, 1,500 HCAs and 274 midwives. Read more
