A MIDWIFE who was too lazy to check the blood pressure of a mum-to-be has been struck off.Edith Hirst, of Longbenton, North Tyneside, was kicked out of the nursing profession after a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) panel heard she failed to carry out the required checks on the 23-year-old woman.She then falsified records to make it look like she had taken the four readings needed to get the average figure of the patient’s blood pressure.On Friday, the NMC panel found Hirst unfit to practice.Chairman of the panel Lawrence Peterken said: “There is a continuing risk to patients. Ms Hirst failed to give safe care to the patient and put her at risk.
