With vacancies for more than 100 positions, MidCentral Health was one of the key parties in a deputation led by Vision Manawatu this month.The deputation sought to help plug Manawatu’s shortage of skilled labour by selling the region’s work opportunities and lifestyle benefits to Britons thinking about moving to New Zealand.The doctors, midwife and nurse came to one of the Lifestyle Opportunities expos for prospective migrants - specifically to talk to someone about Manawatu, a spokeswoman for MidCentral Health said.In an organisation that employs about 2000 staff, MidCentral has 39 vacancies for nurses and midwives, 36 vacancies for junior doctors and 19 vacancies for senior doctors.

MidCentral fielded 95 expressions of interest from people who attended the expos in London and Leeds. Of those 95, 36 were nurses. Read more
