The vice-president of the Nursing and Midwifery Council is taking the organisation to an employment tribunal for racial discrimination.
Nursing Times understands Moi Ali submitted the claim, which also relates to discrimination on the basis of religious belief, to London Central Employment Tribunal earlier this month.
Ms Ali was formerly a lay member of the council, became vice-president in 2006 and her current term of office ends in July 2010. A spokesperson for the NMC said it would not comment on employment tribunals. Read more
