The number of scholarships offered to enrolled nurses in NSW is to be doubled to more than 400, the NSW government has announced.Premier Morris Iemma said the scholarships would be offered to enrolled nurses across the state who are undertaking a Bachelor Of Nursing or Bachelor of Midwifery degree this year.The scholarships, worth up to $8,000, help enrolled nurses with the cost of their studies.Mr Iemma said the decision to double the number of scholarships followed an overwhelming response to the program.“I’m delighted that so many enrolled nurses working in the public health system want to take up this opportunity to enhance their qualifications and continue to provide nursing care to the people of NSW,” Mr Iemma said.
