The Central Regional Director of Nursing Services, Bertha Boakye-Agyeman has reminded nurses of the highly important role they play in the country and advised them to take their calling seriously in order to save lives. At the matriculation of first year students of the Nurses and Midwives Training College in Cape Coast, she said some nurses, instead of adhering to the code of ethics of the profession and pledge to respect the dignity of patients, show gross indiscipline when attending to their patients.
Mrs. Boakye Agyeman asked the students to discard any negative attitude they may have acquired from their homes in order to fight for a good course. She also charged them to set goals for themselves and work towards achieving them in order to promote the noble profession.
The Principal of the College, Victoria Brown said Nursing and Midwifery is now one of the most attractive professions, which can be rewarding financially if taken seriously. She noted that Nursing though highly academic involves the development of a selfless character and love.
Mrs. Brown entreated the 159 students admitted for the Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery programmes to dedicate themselves to duty and sacrifice for their call. Read more…
