The American Association of Occupational Health Nurses and the American Red Cross have renewed a collaborative agreement to share expertise and boost nurse recruitment and retention nationwide.Under the partnership, which has been extended for three years, the association will offer occupational and environmental health nursing expertise related to programs, policies and protocols of the Red Cross. In addition, the association will use its chapters throughout the nation as a platform for recruiting nurses for Red Cross relief operations. The Red Cross, meanwhile, has pledged to provide disaster nursing expertise for the association’s emergency preparedness programs; help train and retain local nurses through its Disaster Services Human Resources system; and encourage staff to submit articles to the association’s journal, particularly pieces coauthored by association members. Finally, both groups will encourage their members to speak at local and national meetings, further enhancing the partnership and disaster planning efforts. Read more
