The Union has been complaining for the past five months on the poor quality of food which is served to nurses and midwives at the Gozo General Hospital; whereby, almost everyday, such professionals are served canned beef and ham with peas, beans and carrots.

A press release issued by the Union said that way back in October they were informed that cereals were bought, which however, were never presented.

It said that it is expected that the food served to nurses and midwives does not endanger the health of the employees and is on the lines of what is promoted by the department of health.

The Union said that if the situation is not improved in the coming days, they will be forced to order industrial actions, in order to safeguard the interests of nurses and midwives. Read more
