The extent of the financial problems that hit the NHS in Norfolk last year were made clear today as it was revealed specialist nurses are struggling to find jobs in the county.

Students who have trained for the past three years to become mental health nurses have been told at the interview stage that no jobs were available and what jobs there are will be open for “all staff” to apply for.

Many students are upset they were trained at the UEA but have discovered there are no jobs in Norfolk to suit their training.

Today the UEA said last year’s financial problems were still being felt, but move to reassure mental health nursing students that a “significant” number would get jobs. But many student nurses fear their training has been wasted. Read more
