A NEW health care company chaired by the former Liberal leader John Hewson is setting up a training centre in the Philippines to recruit staff for its Australian hospitals and home-based care services. The company, Pulse Health, aims to become the country’s third-largest private hospital provider, and also to offer home care for elderly, disabled or recuperating patients. Pulse’s managing director and chief executive officer, Peter Mangles, said Pulse could make an advantage of chronic shortages in nursing and care workers by running recruitment and training programs nationally and overseas.
